HUNTSVILLE, AL – The fourth Downtown Huntsville Annual Meeting and Awards, hosted by Downtown Huntsville, Incorporated, was held today in the Propst Arena Atrium. LogiCore believes in DHI’s mission and is proud to be a sponsor.
Despite the weather, the event was sold out and the venue was packed. During the presentation and awards, Chad Emerson, President and CEO of DHI, stated that a downtown Huntsville that is economically diverse and thriving will improve the quality of life throughout all of Huntsville. The opening remarks touched on the high points of 2016, spotlighting the innovative projects happening downtown. One was the Book Box project, which embraces communal sharing of books throughout downtown.
NASA in the Park won the Event of the Year award, and Straight to Ale Campus 805 won Project of the Year. When accepting the award for Advocate of the Year, John Hamilton, City Administrator, stated that he looks forward to supporting stronger livability of the city.
This morning’s guest speaker was Colonel Thomas Holliday, Garrison Commander. His speech highlighted the importance of partnership in the community. Redstone Arsenal won the first Army Community Partnership Award in 2016, and Col. Holliday emphasized that a strong partnership with the community will yield success for both the Army and Huntsville’s quality of life.
